Teen Arts 2017 was held on Thursday, March 16, 2017. Selected Shawnee students in the fields of art, photography, and music made their way to Rowan College of Burlington County to observe, critique, and explore other high school student’s photographic work and art exhibits.

Shawnee junior Tessa Tabor talked about her experience at Teen Arts, and she had nothing but positive things to say. “I found it to be extremely eventful – it was my first time going and I saw so many faces and ideas. I also was amazed at the fact that I was surrounded by so much talent.”

Photography pieces by Shawnee students Liz Speiser, Tessa Tabor, Emily Bosco and Boaz Matlack won awards. Boaz, a senior, said that he found it much more inspiring and fun then last year’s Teen Arts, and enjoyed all the events that were going on throughout the day. The four selected photographic winners from Shawnee will now move on to the state competition. Art students Lillian Bill, Lizzie Lewis, and Carli Armstrong won awards at the show with their stunning artwork, and the Shawnee singers made an appearance singing before the judges. The Shawnee musicians were also judged, led by Mr. Nick Rotindo. All in all, the general consensus was that this was a great show this year with so many thought provoking opportunities for students and teachers alike.
