The Elections Are Back

The Elections Are Back

Eric Schubert, Editor

Just when you thought the elections were finally over, they are back in our very own New Jersey! The race for New Jersey Governor is really starting to begin, with Lt. Gov Guadagno getting into the race a few days ago. Working with Governor Christie, she has been Lt. Gov since Christie was first elected Governor in 2009, and they were easily re-elected in 2012 with over 60% of the vote.

At the writing of this article, nine Democrat candidates have declared their candidacy, and there is much smaller candidate list on the Republican side, with only three other candidates declaring their candidacy besides Guadagno. The Lt. Gov has already begun distancing herself from Governor Christie, in the hopes that this move will impact her campaign in a positive light. Governor Christie has terrible approval ratings as of now, and Lt. Gov Guadagno knows this.

Her main opponent on the Democratic side, who she has already begun taking aim at, is Phil Murphy. The election for governor is ten months out, and who will last in the first primaries is still up in the air. Much is still unknown about the race, but I think that will not be the case as of soon – personally, I think it will be an interesting political season this year in New Jersey!
