5 Things You Need To Know Week of 3/27/17
Hello, Renegades! Hope you all had a good weekend. Just want to give a shout out to the junior class of 2018. Hope you all enjoyed JDD on Friday! Now let’s get into the 5 things you need to know for this week:
- Shawnee’s Color Run for Cancer is on Saturday, April 8th, at 9:00 am. Sign ups are now closed as of today (3/27). Thank you to everyone who signed up!
- College Jump Start Night for Juniors and Parents is this Thurday, March 30th, at 6:00 pm in the Shawnee auditorium. Juniors are highly recommended to come out, as it is a very helpful experience that can assist you in college applications.
- The Senior trip to Disney World (the most magical place on Earth) is also this Thursday! Quick reminder to all seniors going on the trip: Luggage check is Wednesday night (3/29) from 4:30 pm -6:0 pm in the back gym. Also, remember to check your arrival time for your flight Thursday morning.
- The Media TechClub is hosting a documentary film festival this Wednesday, March 29th, from 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm in the auditorium.
- PARCC testing begins on Tuesday, March 28th, and will run until Friday, April 7th. For those of you taking the PARCC, here’s a quick refresher on the rules for testing days:
- No phones or electronic devices are allowed in testing rooms. This year, that includes watches of any kind. Yes, even if it isn’t a smart-watch and all it does is tell time, your watch will not be allowed into any testing room.
- No food or drink is allowed in testing rooms.
- Students need to bring their own pencils, headphones or earbuds (not Bluetooth/wireless ones), a graphing calculator, and a non-academic book to read.
I want to wish everyone who is taking the PARCC test good luck! Try not to stress about the test; you’ll do fine!
Also, to all the seniors going on the Disney trip, be smart, stay safe, and have fun!
That’s all for this week’s edition of the 5 Things You Need To Know. See you all next Monday!
