What better students to appreciate other than the students of the month?
Leading into this month’s special students spotlight are Charlotte Ellis, Collin Hill, Sofia Kaufer, and Sakiyah Horsley, the intelligent and hardworking Students of the Month! These students not only have great talent but the passion to learn and become a role model Shawnee High School Renegade.
Being only a 9th grader and winning student of the month would be our fabulous Charlotte Ellis. Charlotte takes advice from upperclassmen and teachers striving to be the best she can. She asks questions, has an intelligent personality, and is super kind to her peers and teachers. Charlotte is quite involved with our school, you’ll most likely see her at sports games and in the halls smiling at everyone, chatting, and being extremely compassionate, spreading her bubbly personality to everyone she approaches.
Next is Collin Hill, a bright 10th grader who also got student of the month for being an exceptional student and renegade at Shawnee. Collin Hill is the talented and committed Captain of the boys’ JV soccer team presenting leadership skills. While leading his team, Collin has strong determination, motivation, and kindness to teachers and peers. Collin shows exemplary behavior to his peers by offering to help others and his team members. Collin defines what it means to be a good leader, strong and respectful renegade.
Now our 11th grade student of the month is the helpful and hardworking, Sofia Kaufer. She is always on task, engaged, asking questions, and participating in class and school events. Sofia is very involved and dedicated to being a good student in Shawnee. Sofia is viewed as diligent and knowledgeable in our school. Getting straight to work in class, asking questions and making sure she understands the material she is learning. By being one of the extremely phenomenal founding members of the Cooking for a Cause club, driven to help those in need. Sofia is an tireless, hard-working renegade who is also on the undefeated varsity girls’ tennis team!
Last but not least is our outstanding, wise, athletic, and busy senior Sakiyah Horsley. Sakiyah has not only been a present member of the girls’ volleyball team for four years but has also been active in the winter and spring track teams for four years as well. The intelligent Sakiyah is this year’s Student Council president and is also president of the Multicultural Club. Being a senior, she still is very involved, and smiling. Being an upperclassman she demonstrated the great values of a renegade. She shows and inspires underclassmen responsibility, perseverance, getting involved, and truly showing strong devotion as a renegade.
