- You may have already been a part of a school band or know how to play an instrument, but marching band takes that to the next level with the numerous opportunities it offers. From learning how to march to how to perform, marching band grows your instrument skills. In addition, students can join the color guard too!

- Marching band allows for you to step out of your comfort zone and engage with others. Performing lets you get out of your shell, and you’ll learn new aspects of yourself, such as being able to communicate better and have more confidence in yourself and capabilities, especially when working with a team of musicians.

- You’ll be rewarded with memorable experiences with the band and within your own work. You’ll experience the rewards of preserving through everyday challenges that help you become more dedicated to your musical craft.

- If you don’t know anyone starting a marching band, you do not need to worry at all! You’ll get to meet new people and have tons of activities that bring the whole band closer together. Throughout the season, you’ll collaborate and trust the people around you and build a strong community of friends in musicians.
- No Prior Experience Needed.
- Joining our marching band doesn’t involve any prior experience to playing an instrument whatsoever! If you’ve never held an instrument or spun a flag, no worries. Just joining the SHS Marching Band will teach you everything you need to know. At the start of the season, the required skills will be taught such as playing an instrument, learning to spin a flag, working with a team, marching, and much more. Becoming a SHS Marching Band member is, as one marches, done one step at a time–so no need to worry about falling behind.
