Hello Renegades! Welcome back. I hope you all had an amazing and relaxing Spring Break! From here on out, we’re in the final stretch to the end of the 2016-2017 school year. But enough about the future months from now; let’s take a look at the 5 most important things that you need to know for this week:

  1. All students taking AP testinig: you must attend one of the mandatory pre-testing gridding session this week. Gridding sessions are April 24th, 25th, and 26th at the beginning of Lunch and Learn in the Auditorium. Check your school emails, as the paper copies of the 5 Things contain incorrect infromation on dates and times.
  2. The Memoiral Day Flag Fundraiser ends April 25th. American Flags are $1 each and will be displayed outside of school over Memorial Day in support of the U.S. Military. Give your $1 to Rachel Belville to purchase a flag.
  3. Seniors: On May 16th, LRHSD will be holding a ceremony in the Lenape High School Auditorium to honor all senior students who will be entering the military, military academy, or an ROTC college/university program. If you have a signed contract to enlist in the military or you have received an acceptance letter to a military academy or college/university ROTC program, notify Mrs. Krihak in the Counseling Center before April 28th.
  4. Senior Portraits are being taken this week on the stage in the Auditorium from 8:30 — 2:15. Students have received appointment times and should report to the stage at their appointed time.
  5. ATTENTION ALL STUDENTS: Renegames is on the way! This year, the event will be held on May 5th. Any student interested in participating in events during Renegames should see their class advisors by Friday, April 28th.

That’s all of the official 5 Things, but there is one more thing that I believe that you need to know this week. This year, the entire LRHSD community will be reading the same book over the summer as part of the One Book program (formerly One Book, One School). Students from across the district get to vote to decide what book will be the summer reading book this year. The two choices for this year’s summer book are:

Hidden Figures by Margot Lee Shetterly

The Crossover by Kwame Alexander

Voting opens today, April 24th, and closes on Tuesday, May 2nd. Voting only takes a minutes, so go online now to www.lrhsd.org/ONEBOOK or go to Shawnee’s homepage and click the ONE BOOK link to cast your vote.

Those are the 6 Things You Need To Know For This Week. Hope you all have a great week back, Renegades!
