Tough loss for the Shawnee boys basketball team
The Shawnee Renegades suffered a tough loss to the 9-3 Moorestown Quakers with a final score of 49-61. The Renegades started strong, scoring several 3-pointers in the first half, in front of a small but enthusiastic crowd. Joey Cleaver (#24) led the team in 3-pointers, scoring a total of 5, which made up 15 of his game-leading 19 points. The intense first quarter ended 15-12, with the Quakers in the lead. Nick O’Brien (#14) was solid on both sides of the ball, keeping the boys focused and engaged. The second quarter hurt the Renegades, who found themselves outscored 18-10. By halftime, the Renegades were down 22-33, a deficit that proved too much to overcome. Jake Jones (#4) was great tonight, landing 3 of Shawnee’s 9 3-pointers. Nick O’Brien had some work in the paint, scoring several layups, while also creating a turnover on the other side of the ball. The Renegades will look to bounce back against the 4-8 Seneca Golden Eagles on Thursday 1/19.
