Over the past few days, Shawnee has competed at the DECA Annual State Conference in Atlantic City. After competing in the district conference in early January, about 40 students from all grade levels competed in their individual or team events against high schools from the entire state. The students competed in role plays on Tuesday, followed later that night and the following morning by awards. Shawnee students made up five of the finalists: Trinity Vodovoz and Kate Schaefer competed in the “Business Law and Ethics Team Decision Making” category; Melissa Gomez and Julia Crozier competed in the “Integrated Marketing Campaign – Service” category; and finally, Quinlyn Moll competed in the category of “Hospitality and Tourism Professional Selling.” Competitors who did not make it to the finals still enjoyed downtime with their classmates and cheering on their friends. Congratulations to Mrs. Dietz for all the hard work she has put in for our school and for New Jersey DECA as an organization. DECA members are so thankful for everything she did. DECA members are already looking forward to next year’s competition.
