Shawnee Winter track finish strong in Toms River Bubble
The Shawnee Winter Track Team competed at the Toms River Bubble on January 21, 2023. The 800m runners performed well, especially sophomore Kayla Dilks, who ran a time of 3:08.63 in her first race back from her injury. During cross country, Kayla dealt with a stress fracture in her metatarsal along with a sprained ankle. After her recovery, Kayla has been working extremely hard to get back to racing on the track.
Alongside Dilks was junior Laura Finelli who said “[she] felt great.” She also told The Renegade Report that “[she] went out too fast the first lap, but [she] was able to pick it up for the final lap.”
Finally, Eria Rupert, in her second winter track season, put up an impressive 3:09:57 in her first 800m race.
Overall, the girls did a phenomenal job racing today at the Bubble. They all earned fantastic times that they are proud of and excited to improve for their next meet.
